Saints' Days

My friend Mike Fenimore said in conversation the other day, "The church without history, particularly the non-denomination's, is a church that cannot rise above shallowness.".
I was reminded of this when I went to a "Christian" book store to find a movie on Martin Luther for Reformation Day.
Surprise, surprise, no display celebrating reformation day; and in the movie rack only one copy of one movie on Luther.
How is it we can have a plethora of Veggi Tale movies that misrepresent Bible stories, and then completely forget our past?
Deuteronomy explicitly tells us not to forget our history, and the church continually(as did the children of Israel) disobeys.
So tomorrow let us join together in remembering our fellow saint, Martin Luther, and celebrate the reforms that freed a greater part of the body from the darkness of its day, and in remembering to press on to further the work of The Lord in our time, not living in the past but remembering and building on the former works of those who lived and worked before us.

End of season blahs

I am in agreement with my brother-in-law Rick on the fact that Advent can't come too soon, but I might add that (at least for me) smear/slime/bash/legalized-littering-on-the-side-of-the-road season can't end too soon. Yes, I vote and am thankful for that privilege but I can't help dreading every four years when democracy rears its ugly head. Rant ends here(for now).

There must be more to life than eating really really ridiculously good cooking!

The title says it all... Ok, not really. We ate a scrumptious Chinese dinner from the comfort of our own home. Not take out, I just happened to have married the world's most amazing culinary magician. So maybe I'm bragging but I dare the most experienced Cathay Inn diner to step forward, taste and then brazenly lie and say my wife's chow mein doesn't excel above the aforesaid restaurant's subgum. Perhaps I'm predisposed to my position but the challenge stands.
Menu,
Almond Chicken
Pork Egg Rolls
Fried Rice
Chow Mein

Yay!

While visiting with my Grandma Betty yesterday, Timothy was putting a puzzle together and every time a piece would fit we would say "Yay". Fast-foward about two and a half hours to after church (Trinity in Wenatchee, they have an afternoon service) I was fastening him in his carseat and he was saying "wine, wine" so I asked if he had feasted with The Lord "uh-huh" well then you're a new man "Yay!" was then his very appropriate response.

Day of sadness

I know this may sound impossible, but Superman died!
Superman is the first movie I remember watching; my sisters were gone who remembers where and I got to watch a movie with just my parents. It was the coolest thing that had happened to me up to that point. So on this Columbus day let's observe a moment (not necessarily of silence, just a moment) for Superman Christopher Reeves.

Public Confession

I was made aware of a public sin I committed and think it only right to make a public confession... (sobs) I haven't been faithfully blogging (sniffs)... All right, I'll explain.
I took a week off from work so I could go down to Moses Lake and help my Grandpa and Uncle with various projects. So far this week I have sided over half of my grandparents' house, put up sheetrock in their utility room, moved about ten wheelbarrow loads of dirt for a lawn they're putting in, unloaded two pickup beds full of manure and helped replace sheathing on my uncle's house project.
So while not a valid excuse, I just wanted y'all to know what's been happening.
